Team Australia’s skipper, Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, has expressed complete confidence in his veteran wicketkeeper batsman, Brad Haddin, and termed him as a match-winning player, claiming that he will not force BJ to change his batting approach.
Clarke expressed these views while talking to media at Cape Town yesterday after the closure of Day 1’s play of the 1st Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
As Haddin contributed just 5 runs in the innings, some critics lambasted on the batsman who had not scored a single Test fifty since the last Ashes. On the contrary, the captain did not show any frown on his face and backed Haddin to continue his natural
game.
Clarke was hopeful of Brad’s resurgence in the second innings of the ongoing match, revealing that he had been struggling hard to perk up his batting stamina since the last few months.
The skipper said, “He'll be disappointed that he hasn't made more runs, but he's a match-winner and a positive player. He's going to play his shots and I don't have a problem with that. I'd rather see guys get out playing their natural game, than being a
little bit timid.”
He further told, “He's working as hard as I've seen. He's always been the type of guy to work his backside off and leave no stone unturned. He'll turn it around, I'm confident about that.''
Though Haddin’s 5 runs meant nothing for his team, but they added him to the list of the three elite Australians who had 2000 runs and 1000 dismissals in their Test careers. After http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rodney-William-Marsh-c86419, Haddin was the fourth wicketkeeper
batsman to achieve this feat.
The Kangaroos celebrated this event with great joy despite having lost 8 wickets for just 214 runs in their first innings.
Haddin also seemed to be happy at the glaring accomplishment which had cemented his place in the squad for some more years to come.
The 34-year-old made his International debut in 2001 and played maiden Test in 2008. Excluding the current match, he has 35 Test, 93 ODI and 25 T20I games to his name. The old hand is as impressive behind the stumps as he poses to be before.
