http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 happy with a mix of youth and experience – Cricket News Update
Australia’s skipper Michael Clarke was pleased with the combination of youth and experience in his side for the first Test against New Zealand at the Brisbane Cricket Ground (BCG), Brisbane in Australia.
The 30-year-old stated, “I think I have to use the talent we have around the group in regards to our bowlers and our batting as well. We have a really good mix here of youth and experience and the experienced guys will need to stand up, me included, and
make sure we lead from the front.”
The Aussie captain further went onto say, “The advice of some of the senior players is going to be very helpful throughout this Australian summer, as it has been in my brief captaincy stint. I'm looking forward to starting the summer, I'd love to get off
to a flyer against the Kiwis and build this momentum we have since http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 were the four uncapped players announced in the 12-member Aussie squad for the first Test of the two match series, which started today on Thursday, December 1, 2011.
There was no dramatic reason behind announcing an inexperienced side, as the selector had limited options because of injuries to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftikhar-Ali-Khan-Pataudi-Nawab-of-c64075 Cummins.
Clarke was not worried about leading a young side and said that the home conditions will allow the newcomers to settle down easily.
He was happy with the team’s recent form as well, as the Kangaroos have been unbeaten under their new skipper.
The only Test where the Australian side struggled was against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 on a lively pitch in Cape Town.
The Proteas’ seamers enjoyed the conditions and dismissed the opposition for just 47 runs in their second innings of the first Test.
This was one of the lowest points in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s cricket history and the team was concerned about it.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 led his side brilliantly in the second match and with a mix of young and experienced blokes, managed to level the series by 1-1.
The stylish right-handed batsman will look to continue the same momentum in the back to back Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
