Australian captain Michael Clarke has hinted at bowling first, if he wins the toss at the second and the last Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Friday, December 9, 2011.
A tinge of green was observed on the Hobart wicket when the Aussies came to the ground for pre-match practice on Thursday. Also weather forecast for Hobart suggests overcast conditions on Friday.
While talking to the media reporters ahead of the Hobart Test, the home skipper said that the greentop at Bellerive Oval, coupled with overcast conditions could tempt him to take the field against Kiwis after winning the toss.
"I'll wait and see tomorrow. I think overhead conditions will play a part. For me it's more about looking up than looking down to see what the weather is like," said Clarke while talking to the media reporters after the practice session.
"If the wicket doesn't change much from what I see and it's still a little bit tacky and there's overhead conditions, there's a big chance I'll bowl first,” he added further.
The Australian skipper, who had won the toss only once in the last seven games, said that he always finds it difficult to bowl first when playing without a specialist spinner.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 had comfortably defeated New Zealand in the first Test at Brisbane by nine wickets and must be eager to sign off the series with another comfortable win over the Trans-Tasmanian rivals to make it a 2-0 Test series win.
Bowling friendly conditions at Hobart means settling against pace attack would be a tough task for the batsmen of the side batting first. Clarke also said that the opening day would be quite tough for the batsmen, especially if overhead conditions prevail.
"I think day one is going to be quite tough for the batters, especially if it's overcast and then it will turn into a pretty good wicket," said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, adding that spinners could play a crucial role later in the match.
Earlier the Australian selectors named an unchanged squad for Hobart and Clarke endorsed the decision, saying he always wants to take the winning combination along.
