Captain of the Australian team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, has spoken out in praise of England, after his side were thoroughly beaten, 4-0, by the Poms in a recent 5-match ODI series.
“I think a lot of credit needs to go to England ... They've outplayed us in all four matches, they've been very consistent, their bowlers have bowled with good patience and discipline and their batters have made runs,” he observed, post-defeat.
“We haven't done both,” he added. “We didn't have anybody make a big score as a batter, we lost a lot of early wickets throughout the series and we didn't execute our skills as well as you need to.”
The ODI tour had approached amid plenty of media hype, and was touted as a preamble to the 2013 Ashes. England went into the series after the sudden retirement of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftikhar-Ali-Khan-Pataudi-Nawab-of-c64075 Cummins who was labelled the future of the Aussie bowling attack.
England, however, rose superbly from the sudden set-back, discovering an able opener in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RS-Bopara-c2373 (82, 33*, and 52*).
In addition, the English bowlers also put forth an impressive and composed performance, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Bresnan-c2711 took 6.

In addition to the fitness concerns, the Aussies were also unable to perform. None of the batsmen managed to deliver consistently, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 (56), and David Hussey (70) all scored just one half-ton each, while the remaining batsmen did not even manage to get that far.
The bowling was similarly lacklustre, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CJ-McKay-c1265 remaining the highest wicket-taker on the Aussie side, having claimed a total of 5 wickets in 4 innings, in addition to being the only one who managed to take more than one wicket in one match (he took 2 for 29 in the 4th ODI).
Their poor showings against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 (number 2) and England (number 3), both of whom have a rating of 118.
