Michael Clarke leads stunning Aussie comeback, Cameron White rages
Michael Clarke’s brilliant hundred coupled with a belligerent unbeaten 89 by Cameron White has taken the Australians to an imposing total in the second ODI against India at Visakhapatnam.
Batting first the Aussies were off to a poor start. Left-handed opening batsman, Shuan Marsh was sent packing by Ashish Nehra when his attempted shot through the covers landed onto his stumps off an inside edge.
The next to go was Tim Paine, who’s attempted shot over mid-on fell into the hands of the fielder, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashish-Nehra-c46293 the successful bolwer.
At this stage the tourists were reeling at 16 for 2 with 8 overs already lost in their innings.
The innings was resurrected by an impressive partnership between Mike Hussey and Captain Michael Clarke.
The two seasoned batsmen slowly got their team back in the game with their calculated approach.
The two added 144 runs for the third wicket partnership. Hussey and Clarke were both in fine form as they made the most of the batting conditions, especially since the job had eased for them in the afternoon session.
Mike Hussey reached his half century off 61 balls. He hit 4 fours in his first fifty runs. Hussey was dismissed soon afterwards on 69.
He was trapped lbw by new spinner Ashwin, who was inducted in the team after some strong performances for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028.
Hussey faced 77 balls in his knock, striking 7 fours in all. After his departure the burly big hitter, Cameron White, joined hands with Clarke and the two set about their task of increasing the run rate.
White once again demonstrated that he is one of the cleanest strikers in the game as he thumped the ball to all parts of the ground besides launching some big sixes.
In the meanwhile Clarke reached his ton off 133 balls with the help of 7 fours, towards the end of the innings Clarke and White went in top gear as the Indian bowlers failed to check the flow of runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 ended at 111 not out. The right hander faced 139 balls in all and struck 7 fours and 1 six in his innings.
On the other hand White motored to 89 not out off a mere 49 balls, he took 23 runs off the last over of the innings bowled by Vinay Kumar.
The tourists ended their innings at 289/3 setting a target of 5.8 runs per over for the hosts.
