Despite being the no.1 ranked side in the world, Australian skipper, Michael Clarke, wants his side to raise the bar when they take on England in the upcoming 5-match series.
"We've been the number one ODI team in the world for a while now but we need to continue to raise the bar," Clarke said.
His comments came just before his team embarked on a lengthy schedule where they will play Ireland, England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 before featuring in the T20 World Cup. While the skipper is not a part of the T20 format, he is eager to put emphasis on his team’s consistency,
which he feels has been lacking in the shorter versions in recent times.
Since taking on the captaincy, Clarke has yet to lose a series as captain however; his ODI victories have not been flashy , including away wins against Sri Lanka 3-2 and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
The last ODI series, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, where he did not feature owing to injury, culminated in a disappointing 2-2 draw, forcing Clarke to comment that his side will have to increase the intensity in their game.
The upcoming series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftikhar-Ali-Khan-Pataudi-Nawab-of-c64075 Cummins,  but the skipper is hopeful that the team’s journey
will be a successful one. The Aussies will lock horns in five One Day internationals, with the first one taking at Lord’s. The tour concludes at Old Trafford, Manchester – the venue for the fifth game.

team or the Twenty20 team, to have a lot of success and get back to being the number one in all forms of the game."
