Michael Clarke reckons his batting has been 'very consistent'
Australia’s stand-in captain Michael Clarke reckons that his batting in One Day International cricket has been consistent since 2010.
“I think my form in one-day cricket over the last 12 months has been very consistent,” Clarke stated after scoring 9 runs in the third ODI against England on Sunday at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Clarke dismissed the Australian cricket fans’ pressure saying that he is not worried since he is in ‘consistent’ form.
He admitted that he is aware of all the criticism and calls around him but he is focussing on winning games for Australia.
“I’m training as hard as I possibly can,” the 29-year-old middle-order batsman said.
This comes after the stand-in skipper for injured Ricky Ponting has made only 55 runs in the three ODIs against England. His form does not seem anywhere near consistent after a bleak 2010-11 Ashes series when he mustered 193 runs in the five Tests.
However, Clarke ignored the statistics and said that he felt no pressure.
“We’re winning, which makes life a lot easier I guess for individuals who are performing as well as they would like,” Clarke conceded.
Clarke’s confidence comes at a time when Australia are slowly but surely recovering from the recent Ashes loss against England. They are 3-0 up in the seven-match ODI series despite the fact that many of their senior players are out due to injuries.
Australia won the third ODI by four wickets thanks to David Hussey’s brilliant half-century. The home side will be seeking another win on Wednesday to get a consolation after their Ashes drubbing.

“I’ve got plenty of support around me...I’m certain it’s going to turn soon,” Clarke added.
