Aussie Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 has said that Cricket Australia’s (CA) newly found General Manager for team performance, Pat Howard’s lack of experience under the sport will not be an issue for the fraternity, since the former rugby player has previously spent
a considerable stint in overseeing team performances, especially during his tenure with Australian Rugby Union.
“His job's not to be the head coach or the captain, he's been very successful in this role and he's done it before (for the ARU),” said Clarke.
“He’s played a lot of sport and he knows his cricket well enough, so I’m not concerned at all that he hasn’t played cricket at the highest level,” added the Skipper, who is set to lead the Australian tourists in the upcoming 3-match One Day International
(ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, on October 19, 2011.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Howard-c63371 was brought on CA’s set-up earlier this week, with a major responsibility to oversee the national team’s performance, which had been going through some disappointing seasons, especially since the last home Ashes series.
The appointment was also welcomed by CA’s Chief Executive, James Sutherland, who said that Howard’s inclusion on the Board will add in great value to the set-up and despite his lack of experience in cricket, the former Rugby player’s imposing skills under
the supervising business will aid the side to revive back to its previous glory.
As for now, Howard will be responsible for keeping a constant check on the national team’s performance, in-line with recommending a new coach for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and according to Sutherland, the outfit’s coaches, support staff and captain, will all have to report
to Howard.
With regard to finding the right coach for the Aussie squad, Clarke also said that he was confident that the management as well as the new General Manager will heed into the Skipper’s opinion on the appointment and there will be positive communication between
them.
