Michael Clarke says he is satisfied with Australia’s performance – Cricket update
In the light of the Ashes review to be conducted today by Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 (CA) authorities, Vice-captain Michael Clarke has said that Australian cricket is not going downhill.
CA includes 14 members, who will meet today in order to discuss the game’s structure, governance and financial models, including a new domestic Twenty20 league. Chairman of selectors, Andrew Hilditch and Coach Tim Nielsen, will investigate the causes of
the Ashes loss and the team’s decline to number five in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings.
In the Ashes 2010, the Aussies had a humiliating 3-1 defeat on home soil at the hands of their arch-rivals England. It is speculated that the reports of the review will be kept off the record for some months. "I think Australian cricket is in a great place
to be honest,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120.
Clarke, while talking about the Ashes defeat, said that they had a hard time loosing series at home. He also added, “There is a review going on and the people taking part will make decisions. If it's about me as a player or support staff or whatever it is,
we'll deal with that at the right time.”
After Ricky Ponting’s finger injury in the Ashes Test, Clarke took over the team as a stand-in captain. Following the Ashes loss, he led the Australian team to a 6-1 victory over England in the seven-match One-Day series before the ICC World Cup 2011.
Clarke has also express that he favours domestic talent. He added that he still has faith in Australia’s domestic-level talent because it has maintained its strong form since its start. The batsman asserted that the domestic talent in every state could be
easily judged in the upcoming Twenty20 Champions League. Each side get a chance to show their best against other domestic teams.
Clarke believes that Australian cricket will keep dominating international cricket. He also said that the relationship between CA and Australian Cricket Association (ACA) is necessary and it is quite strong at the moment. While talking about the review he
also said that the people in the committee will definitely come up with decisions which will favour the game.
Australia have played three group matches of the ICC World Cup 2011 so far and are on number four in pool ‘A’. This is thanks to their two wins against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 ended without a result due to rain interruption.
Their upcoming performances should make it clear as to where the team stands in comparison to the other teams.
