Michael Clarke schedules an extra training session for improvement – Cricket News Update
Australia’s Test and One Day International (ODI) skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 was livid after his side’s humiliating defeat against South Africa in the first Test of the two match series against South Africa in Cape Town on Friday, November 11, 2011.
The angry captain sent a strong message to his team-mates after scheduling an extra training session on Saturday morning, which would have been the fourth day of the first Test had it not ended in three days.
The 30-year-old stated, “We need to get better, there's no doubt about it, and there's only one place to improve (and that's at training). Training is about trying to get better. We've probably got to get that happy medium of enough training to get better
before the Test but also being as ready to go as we can be.”
Clarke further added, “If you don't feel the pain here, you'll never feel the pain and you're playing the wrong sport, for the wrong team. If there's one person in that change room with a smile on their face... every single one of us needs to be disappointed,
for good reason.”
After top scoring the first innings of the match with 151 runs, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 would not have expected his side to let him down the way they did in their second outing.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 were all out for 47 runs in their second innings and were even threatened of being dismissed on a lowest ever total in the longest version of the game.
The tourists were in deep trouble, losing nine wickets for just 21 runs on the board. However, tail-enders http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822 saved some humiliation for the team, scoring 26 runs for the last wicket partnership and saving them from being bundled
up for the lowest ever total in Test cricket history.
This effort might have saved the Kangaroos from one humiliation, but they failed to survive a crushing defeat at the hands of the opposition.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HM-Amla-c1557 scored centuries in their second innings, guiding the team to an eight wicket win.
The result did not please Clarke and he expects his side to bounce back in the second Test by winning it and levelling the series at 1-1.
