Australia’s vice captain Michael Clarke has sought the advice of Captain Ricky Ponting as Clarke is yet to silence the critics with his batting ahead of the second Test match against England at Adelaide Oval starting from Friday.
Clarke has been under the radar since the poor performance during the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 as he captained the side but failed to win the Test series as well as the One Day series. He was also ‘almost’ ruled out of the Ashes first Test match due to a recurring
back pain.
However, Clarke was enlisted in the poor performer’s category of the first drawn Test match of the Ashes at Gabba on Monday as he scored only nine runs off fifty balls and dropped two catches which made the cricket pundits think that the back strain is giving
him some problems.
Clarke admitted to the media that he is a bit worried about his form though he is willing to work on his performance to the best of his abilities.
He sure did work hard as he was seen spending a longer time in the nets on a drizzly Wednesday morning as compared to his fellow team-mates, who retired early due to the rain drenched field.
Vice captain Clarke was seen taking batting tips from Ponting as he faced the bowling machine. He also tried to work his bat up to the spin and pace whereas Ponting was giving throw-downs as Aussie coach Tim Nielsen looked on.
The curious media were flashing their cameras and filming the two captains, waiting to write something on the biggest and most hyped battle of the Ashes. However, much to the dismay of the paparazzi, Clarke told the media with a big smile that Ponting knows
about his batting style and he is just “engineering him with a subtle technical tweak.”
“I was just working on a few things and obviously Punter’s seen me bat for a long time now through my career and picks things up at training,” he told the avid reporters.
He told the reporters that Ponting’s advice seems to be working for him as he got better throughout the long net session.
Clarke acknowledged the fact that the England bowling attack was very intelligent as they hit the right spots whereas he lacked the appropriate footwork.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 hoped to do well in the second Test match at Adelaide where he has a fantastic record of three centuries in four Tests.
