http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447’s omission – Cricket News Update
Michael Clarke, the Australian skipper, is surprised that the Indian selectors have dropped Gautam Gambhir from the Test team and mentioned that some of his bowlers are happy that they will not have to cope with the left-handed opener in the upcoming series.
The four-match Test series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and India start from February 22, at Chennai. The series is going to be an extremely interesting one as no cricket analysts is able to predict a favourite.
The hosts are under a lot of pressure, having lost their previous Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942.
Gambhir, who struggled to perform in the longer format of the game in recent times, has not been included in the Test team and is likely to be replaced by a relatively inexperienced player in the playing 11.
The Australian captain believes that the Men in Blue have been weakened by the absence of the seasoned opening batsman, who has been a match-winner for India over the years. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 thinks that Gambhir is a class-act and he will be back in the side
very soon.
“I expected him (Gambhir) to be in the Test team. He is a wonderful player and has played for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 for a long time now. I think there are a few bowlers in our team who are happy he is not playing,” said the Aussie skipper. “He is a wonderful guy and I really
like him and I get along really well with him. If he scores runs, I'm sure he will get his chance with the Indian team again.”
While commenting on his team’s preparation for the Test series, the middle-order batsman expressed that the Aussie team is not worried about the opposition and are looking to be at the top of their game by the start of the Chennai Test.
“We have to be really focussed just on us and on the areas we need to get better,” the cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 added.
