Michael Cuddyer signs with Colorado Rockies for three years – MLB News
Former Minnesota Twins right-fielder Michael Cuddyer has finally signed with the Colorado Rockies for next three years after becoming a free agent this offseason when the Twins declined to exercise team options on him.
Since the 2011 Major League Baseball season has ended with the a great World Series victory of St. Louis Cardinals, the Colorado Rockies are in pursuit of Michael Cuddyer as they learned that the Twins would not re-sign their right-fielder for next season
after a dismal performance in 2011.
Cuddyer, who has played his entire career in the Twins after making his debut in 2001, finally decided that he should try his talent somewhere else in the league. For some reason, he was also not happy being a part of the Twins as they boldly objected on
his 2011 season’s performance as that also led him to make a decision of signing with the Rockies for three seasons.
On the other hand, the Rockies also wanted to add a good player for the next season as their management decided to contact Cuddyer’s agent and finally on late Friday they officially announced the arrival of right-fielder Michael Cuddyer in the Colorado Rockies
40-man roster.
According to sources, the deal has been finalised for $31 million for next three years. Many say that this deal is going to help the Colorado Rockies immensely. The previous stats of Cuddyer’s professional baseball career are also very impressive while in
the future, these stats will further grow towards more excellence and ultimately assist the Rockies towards a good sustained performance.
Last season with the Twins, Cuddyer played total 139 games in which his hitting average remained at .284 along with 20 home-runs, 70 runs-batted-in and .346 on-base-percentage while his overall career average of .272 with total 141 home-runs, 580 RBIs and
.343 OBP is also a huge achievement for him.
Cuddyer’s arrival in the Rockies roster will certainly boost the wining chances next season. The management also knows the likely effect of his presence will result in a much needed confidence boost for the team.
