Tottenham Hotspur defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 has revealed he has no disappointments from the past season since his side had managed a top four finish in the English Premier League.
However, the only matter of discontent for Tottenham Hotspur was the fact that their London rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 had won the UEFA Champions League and had successfully taken their spot in next season’s European competition. This leaves Tottenham Hotspur to play Europa League football once again in the upcoming season.
After an average start to the season, Tottenham Hotspur went on to perform really well in the English Premier League and at one point were in the title race. However, they were unable to maintain their form and slipped to fourth spot on the table.
Dawson said while speaking to reporters:
“We finished in the top four and you couldn't ask for much more. That was our aim at the start of the season and we achieved that.
True, we were disappointed to be 10 points clear in third place and then to have that steadily eroded and overtaken.”
Dawson believed his side had played decent football throughout the season and despite being able to finish in the top three, deserved some respect. The past season has not been too kind on Dawson either, with the former Nottingham Forest defender picking up an injury twice.
He revealed:
“The injury itself was just a freak. It was just one of those things that happen - there's nothing you can do about it - but I knew as soon as it happened that it was serious.”
The 28-year-old picked up an Achilles injury at the beginning of the season, but managed to make a recovery. However, he picked up a second injury which ruled him out for the remainder of the season and the European Championships for the Three Lions.
He revealed that while he was disappointed, he would now turn all his focus to preparing for pre-season training with Tottenham Hotspur.
Dawson continued:
“Now all I want to concentrate on is getting myself fully fit because I'm already looking forward to pre-season.”
