Michael Dawson returns to training for Tottenham
Tottenham defender Michael Dawson has returned to training for Harry Redknapp's team, while his England and Spurs partner Ledley King is due to consult a specialist for his groin problem.
Dawson, who injured his knee and ankle ligaments in England's Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria in September while making his second international appearance, replaced striker Robbie
Keane as Spurs captain midway through last season.
The 27-year-old had started all three league fixtures entered by his team prior to the injury.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, who has relied on the services of French dup William Gallas and Younes Kaboul in the absence of Dawson and King in central defence, said he was delighted
to see his captain back in training this week.
"It's the first time he has been out with us [since suffering the injury]," Redknapp told reporters ahead of Spurs' league encounter with Liverpool on Sunday 28 November. "He's worked
with the fitness coaches who have done a good job with him."
King to see specialist in Copenhagen
Meanwhile, Redknapp confirmed that King would consult a specialist in Copenhagen for his groins injury.
"He is off to see a specialist in Copenhagen and get a decision what needs doing next as to whether he feels he can carry on strengthening and trying to get fit without surgery," he said.
Because of his proneness to injury, King, who captains Spurs over Dawson when his fitness allows, has been matched sparingly by Redknapp and his predecessor Juande Ramos.
Having recovered from a metatarsal problem, King was included in England's World Cup squad by manager Fabio Capello only to suffer a groin injury during the first half of England's World
Cup opener against the United States on 12 June.
Spurs get a well-needed break after the game against Liverpool, with their next fixture coming against Birmingham City on 4 December.
