Chelsea midfielder, Michael Essien has hailed his club teammate, Fernando Torres as one of the best striker’s in the world.
The Spaniard signed for Chelsea from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yossi-Benayoun-c37520 said a few days ago about Torres.
Essien said while talking to reporters, “I think Yossi is right, Nando is one of the best strikers in the world at the moment and when he starts scoring all the noise about him will stop. It's just a matter of time and he's coming into a new club where he needs to settle, but we have no doubt about him, we know he is going to deliver.”
The player went on to add, “We are not concerned; we know it is going to come. As you can see he has been working really hard and he has the support from everyone so it is going to come, we just have to be patient, but he will start scoring for us and everything will be fine.”
Essien admitted that Torres’ arrival has forced Chelsea to modify their style of play and they have successfully reverted from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 formation, recently. He added that Drogba and Torres are two different players and the team can adapt to both styles of play.
The Ghanaian international added that it is only a matter of time before the Spaniard returns to his best and his first goal will bring lot more in the future.
Chelsea will visit the Old Trafford for the second-leg of the quarter-final of UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, 12 April 2011. The Blues lost the first leg 1-0 and face a huge task to qualify for the semi-finals now. Essien is hoping that Torres ends his goal drought in this game and guides Chelsea to a victory.
Manager, Carlo Ancelotti also seems to be losing patience with the striker and has even hinted that the Spaniard might be dropped for the second leg against United.
