Chelsea midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Essien-c25294 has insisted he is stronger than before after finally returning from his long term knee injury.
The 29-year-old Ghanaian marked his return with a surprise substitute appearance in the 1-0 win over Sunderland at Saturday. Essien returned to action after six months of being sidelined with a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right now.
The influential midfielder has been out since pre-season and has gone on to miss most of the season for the Blues. However, he returns now in the January transfer window and will be hoping to make a difference for the London side in the second half of the
season.
Essien, who has been extremely injury prone in the last few years, picked up his third injury in three injuries. In the 2008-2009 season the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 international went on to miss over seven months and almost half of the next season after a ligament damage
in both knees.
It is believed that Essien would not be at his best after such a lengthy lay-off, but the Blues midfielder believes he has come back stronger than before. He was certain he would go on to perform better for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the remainder of the season.
Essien said in an interview:
“It's been a long while but I'm always positive and I knew I would come back stronger. That's what I did and I was happy to be on the pitch again.
It's always good to be back after such a long injury, so I'm very happy to be back.”
Essien admitted he was extremely happy to have returned successfully for the Blues from another long term injury and remainder hopeful that he would remain fit in the future. For now, the player was just cherishing the opportunity to be back on the pitch
again.
As for his return, Essien revealed he had taken things slowly as not to rush his return from fear of worsening the injury. He continued:
“We didn't rush anything; we take every day as it comes. My physios and doctors are there for me, I've been working hard and I think the hard work has paid off.”
