Michael Fuchs, Birgit Michels rule in Mixed Doubles event - Bulgarian International Update

Germany’s Michael Fuchs-Birgit Michels played their heart out and outshined Peter Kaesbauer-Isabel Herttrich to win Babolat Bulgarian International title on Sunday, October 7, 2012.
This Mixed Doubles final match kept both compatriot teams head-to-head for 23 minutes in the local badminton arena of Sofia, Bulgaria.
The top seeded duo proved its worth in the last round and reserved the top spot on the victory stand after registering an impressive score of 21-9 and 21-13.
However, the losing contenders also earned great deal of respect for showing good fighting spirit.
They challenged their rivals in the beginning of both sets but failed to make best out of their effort in the crucial moments.
On the other hand, Michael and Birgit played with great precision and earned the right to raise the trophy.
They made their intentions clear straight away in the beginning of first set and maintained the upper hand until game point situation.
Initially, the prime German duo played cautiously but then five uninterrupted points after 6-5 score provided them the required momentum.
They started second half of the set with a notable lead in 11-5 total and capitalised this psychological edge in a couple of establishing rallies.
In third quarter of the set, Michael and Birgit were at their best as the opposing team could not find any loop-hole in their strategy.
They mounted pressure by registering 14-7 margin and then swept the table with an overwhelming total of 21-9.
The following game started with few power packed rallies as both teams put all they got to establish an early lead.
They remained equal until 4-4 but Michael and Birgit made difference by pocketing few back-to-back valuable points.
At mid-game break, they were enjoying the upper hand in 11-6 total and this initial advantage helped them in later part of the game.
Though, Peter and Isabel showed elevated craft in third quarter of the set but this short campaign could not tip the scale in their favour.
Michael and Birgit reinstated their supremacy with a series of well crafted strokes and saved some honour with a staggering knock of 21-13.
