Michael Hogan’s Glamorgan deal delayed till April 2013 – Cricket news Update
The Glamorgan county cricket club will have to wait for another year before the Western Australia fast bowler, Michael Hogan, joins them after quitting Australian cricket.
"Glamorgan Cricket have confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Hogan-c1956 will now be joining the Welsh county at the start of the 2013 season,” a Glamorgan statement said on Wednesday.
“He has recently announced that he will retire from playing cricket in Australia at the end of March 2013. He will then join up with his new team-mates ahead of the start of the new season and will play for Glamorgan for a minimum
of two seasons," the statement read further.
The 31-year-old right-arm medium pacer from Western Australia was due to arrive in Sophia Gardens in the second half of the ongoing 2012 county season on a two-year deal, but the fast bowler was forced to delay his arrival after
he was asked to chose between the two teams due to passport issues.
The Western Australia pacer holds a British passport as well and wanted to join the Welsh county in the capacity of English player rather than an overseas player, but in order to do so he would have to stop playing Australian
domestic cricket, as per Cricket Australia provisions.
