Michael Hussey and Suresh Raina lead Chennai Super Kings over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals - IPL Update
The Chennai Super Kings played host to the Rajasthan Royals in the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 4.
After winning the toss Rajasthan’s captain, Shane Warne opted to send his side in to bat first on what was a pitch that was ‘batsman friendly.’
Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-c83321 Dravid opened the batting for Rajasthan as Albie Morkel and Doug Bollinger bowled the first two overs respectively.
The two batsmen combined well, frustrating the opposition bowling attack and putting up a 50 run partnership in 40 deliveries. They went on take the partnership to an admirable 86 runs before Watson departed for 32 runs after being caught and bowled by Shadab
Jakati.
Dravid continued to bat on and had his half century three deliveries later as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashok-c46345 Menaria joined him at the crease.
Menaria though did not last long as Ashwin sent the batsman back to the pavilion after the batsman’s poorly timed shot had http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Murali-Vijay-c78035 celebrating a well judged catch.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johan-Botha-c67173 and Dravid continued to push on, yet despite their efforts the run rate was beginning to fall. The result was added pressure on the batsmen and Botha lost his wicket soon after when Jakati had the batsman caught by Suresh Raina at cover.
Dravid was out in the next over for 66 runs by Randiv before Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajinkya-Rahane-c970 took the reins, yet both batsmen found themselves victims of a devastating Albie Morkel with the bowler taking a crucial brace.
The Rajasthan Royals ended with a whimper and their total of 147 runs never seemed safe especially with a track so well suited for batting.
What the Royals needed was a few early wickets and they seemed to have gotten just that when Johan Botha dismissed Chennai opening batsman, Murali Vijay in the second over.
Botha’s appeal was met with the umpire’s raised finger, yet that was as good as it got for the Royals as Hussey and Suresh Raina began their long and what was to be a matching winning partnership.
Hussey and Raina played out pretty much the whole match as both batsmen reached their half centuries in an expensive 13th over from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Binny-c2589.
It was almost a stroll to the finish line from there as the two batsmen cruised to within three runs of a win before Raina was dismissed by Trivedi on 61 runs.
Hussey smashed the fourth delivery of the 19th over for four and in doing so put the match to bed as the Chennai Super Kings secured a convincing eight wicket win over the Rajasthan Royals.
