Michael Hussey feels win in Sydney Test would be “real moral victory” for Aussies
Australia’s middle-order batsman, Michael Hussey said on Saturday that a victory in the fifth and the final Ashes Test starting on Monday would serve as morale booster for the depressed Australians.
“…it'll be great and a real moral victory for us if we can get it back to two-all," said Hussey. "That would give the guys a great feeling, and a lot of confidence going into the next year,” he added further.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, after being hammered with an innings and 157 runs defeat in the fourth Ashes Test in Melbourne this week, are trailing the ongoing Ashes series by 2-1. The Ashes finale in Sydney will provide them a last chance to regain some of their lost pride
by winning the match to draw the five-match series by 2-2.
The hosts were forced to make two changes to their Melbourne squad after injuries ruled out regular captain Ricky Ponting and pacer Ryan Harris from the fifth Ashes Test. Ponting’s injured finger, which he had broken in the third Ashes Test in Perth, developed
some complications while Harris picked up an ankle injury in the boxing Test. The broken ankle has ruled him out of the game for six to eight weeks. While http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729 has been called in as Ponting’s replacement, pacer Doug Bollinger and uncapped off-spinner
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Beer-c1949 are competing against each other to fill in the space created by Harris’ injury.
The senior Australian batsman, Mike Hussey said that the task awaiting the Australian’s at Sydney is regeneration of the side which has once ruled the perch of international cricket.
"(We need) to try to start the rise again, getting back to where we want to be - getting a team together we believe in and sticking with them and hoping to build our way back up," said Hussey while talking to the media reporters.
The 35-year-old left-handed batsman further added that the ultimate aim of the Aussies is to regain their No. 1 team status adding that it would take time but the team would have to take the initiative at the Sydney Test next week.
Hussey said that the fact that they have already lost the urn hurts the players a lot and was doubtful whether a victory in Sydney to square the series would totally brush off the shame of losing Ashes at home after 24 years. But he was sure that if it happens
in Sydney, it would be a “real and great moral victory” for the players.
