Michael Hussey, the middle-order Australian batsman, is happy to have gotten a chance to bowl an over and take a crucial wicket on the opening day of Australia's 2nd Test match against Sri Lanka, at Pallekele International Stadium.
Yesterday was Hussey's day as he first took a marvellous catch, dismissing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779, plunging Sri Lanka's chances in the game.
When the Kangaroo bowlers failed to contain Sangakkara, who was well settled, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 gave the ball to Hussey, much to everyone's surprise.
After throwing two dot balls, Hussey jumped up to celebrate the most important wicket of the day on the very third delivery of his only over. The former Lankan captain scored 48 with the help of 7 fours.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 restricted the home team to merely 174 runs in the first innings.
In a post-match press conference, Hussey said, “I couldn't believe http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 was going to give me a bowl, when he said that he did sort of say he wouldn't mind giving me a couple of overs because with a little bit less pace they might be able to chip
one out to cover and obviously he was spot on the money.”
He further told, “I was pretty shocked but obviously it was a very valuable wicket for the team and I'll take it any day of the week because he's obviously one of the of the best players in the world and they had a pretty good partnership going.”
It was Hussey’s third-wicket in Test cricket and the fifth of his International career.
The 36-year-old made his International debut in 2004 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. He played his maiden Test game in November 2005.
The left-handed batsman has played 60 Tests so far, scoring 4760 runs with the help of 13 centuries and 25 fifties. His batting average in both Tests and ODI formats has been above fifty per cent.
