Australia’s veteran batsman, Michael Hussey, has put his weight behind the under-fire veteran, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, and reckoned that a series of big scores from the former skipper is on the cards.
He believes that Ponting is going through a bad patch, and will soon come out of it as a champion batsman. Hussey referred to his fine work in the nets, and shared that the way Ponting has been doing well in the practice session, the side has everything
to believe that something special from him is around the corner.
"I just watch him in the nets and the way he prepares and he's still got the hunger to do well, still enjoys the battle out in the middle. He is batting quite well, sometimes you just get a bit of luck going against you - and that can eat away at your
confidence a little bit," the Age quoted Hussey as saying.
"All he needs is one or two good scores and I reckon you'll see a string of really good scores from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 batsman who started off his International career under Ponting’s captaincy.
Ponting’s batting stats over the last 12 months are a good enough explanation of the reason behind so much pressure on him. The veteran batsman did nothing good with the bat in the World Cup 2011 apart from his ton in the quarter-final game against
the Men in Blue.
After the World Cup embarrassment, he could not perform well in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. He however, looked excellent during his last outing, hitting a steady half-century at Johannesburg.
The Kangaroos are currently engaged in a two-Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DL-Vettori-c1384 at the crease, the tourists
are expected to post a decent total on the board.
Following New Zealand's recital, it will be a big challenge for Ponting to help his side take a reasonable first-innings-lead on a bouncy track at the Gabba.
