Michael Hussey says making World Cup squad is a dream come true situation
Ecstatic Michael Hussey on Monday said that he was ‘over the moon’ at being given a chance to play in the ongoing World Cup event in the Subcontinent.
Speaking in Perth today, the veteran middle-order batsman of Australia said that the World Cup call in the midst of the mega cricketing event is a dream come true situation.
"Just going is a bit of a dream come true but to actually be there as part of a winning Australian team would be out of this world, so let's hope," the 35-year-old left hander was quoted as saying by the Australian media.
"I feel very excited and can't wait to get over there and catch up with the boys. I've had lots of messages from the boys already, so I'm just excited to get over there really," he added.
The left-handed batsman was initially overlooked for the prestigious World Cup event due to a hamstring injury, but the injury of pace bowler Doug Bollinger earned him a chance to participate in the much anticipated quadrennial tournament.
Dough Bollinger was earlier ruled out of the tournament due to an injured ankle. The pacer has been suffering from the ankle pain since his arrival in the Subcontinent which had significantly increased by the end of last month and the team
management decided to send him home to seek opinion of some specialist and determine the best course of management for recovery.
Cricket Australia proposed Michael Hussey as Bollinger’s replacement which was approved by the International Cricket Council on Sunday.
Hussey, after being overlooked for the show piece event, continued playing for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 in the Sheffield Shield and said he is feeling fit and confident about the high profile tournament.
"Just knowing I can get through the game and know I can go full of confidence with the leg, that gives me a lot of confidence as well."
When asked about Australia’s prospects in the ongoing mega event, the left-hander said the Aussies have got to be a great chance and look confident in their quest for a record fourth successive trophy. Hussey further added that a confident
Australia side is always very hard to beat.
Hussey, who was also part of Australia’s victorious 2007 World Cup squad, will leave for the Subcontinent on Tuesday and is expected to be part of Australia’s playing XI against Kenya this Sunday. He is likely to replace Cameron, White,
David Hussey or Steven Smith in the match against minnows http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752.
