Michael Hussey says there is more to life than just cricket – Cricket News Update
Announcing his exit from international cricket at the end of this Australian summer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942 believes there is so much more to life than just playing cricket.
Surprising everyone with his decision to retire from Test cricket after the 3rd game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 next week, followed by a complete exit from international cricket at the end of season, the 37-year-old feels that the tough routine has worn
him down.
“It's a little bit sad and I will miss certain parts of it. But there's so much more to life than just playing cricket, and I have those fantastic memories, but there's going to be a lot of things I certainly won't miss, like the really sick feeling in the
stomach when you have to go out and bat in a Test match, the constant time away from home, training, travel, hotels and airports. It does wear you down after a while,” shared Hussey.
Mr Cricket for Australia believes that the pressure, stress and tension around international cricket demands a great deal from players around the world. Talking about his success, Hussey revealed that the support system around him (from coaches, Ian Keevan
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-Michael-Carter-c86086, and his wife, Amy) with a combination of positive thinking, gave him the necessary confidence as a player.
Being one of the most consistent batsmen for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729 and Alex
Doolan will certainly come under consideration, however, neither of them has experience like Hussey (who made a debut at the age of 30) in first-class cricket.
Sharing lessons from his time in the Australian side, Hussey revealed that it took him long to realize his strengths, but self-belief and preparation helped him deal with pressure.
Playing his 79th Test in Sydney next week, the left-handed batsman will look to score big for Australia and go out with a bang.
