Michael Hussey wants Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 to be positive
Australian middle-order batsman Michael Hussey has called for a positive attitude from the newly appointed captain Michael Clarke.
Clarke was assigned the captaincy task after Ricky Ponting was ruled out of the Sydney Test due to a broken finger.
Hussey expects greater things from his nascent skipper and believes that he will be able to cope up with the pressure of leadership. Handling http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Young-c41367 side will be a tough ask, especially when a team is trailing by a margin of 2-1 with one match to play.
In addition, the Australian captain has been out-of-form in the entire series and could only amass 148 runs at a poor average of 21.
Hussey said, “He'll be an aggressive captain, always looking to take wickets out there, make changes to the field and with the bowlers.”
The left-hander added, “He'll be searching for a wicket all the time, and will always want the game going forward. That's the way Australians have played our cricket as long as I can remember. I think he'll be a very positive captain."
Currently, Clarke is the most experienced cricketer in the Australian line-up with 68 Test matches under his belt. Adding to his experience, he is also the top run-scorer for his team with 4,697 runs.
Previously, the newly elevated captain led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 to the ICC World Twenty20 final in the Caribbean. His captaincy record in One-Day International cricket has been excellent. He has won 13 games out of 18 as the leader of the Kangaroos.
In the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the home side was completely outplayed by an in-form English side and as a result, the visitors retained the Ashes.
On the other hand, the Aussies are quite confident going into new year’s Test with a new leader. Hussey said that their focus is on the Sydney Test and they will try their best to level the series.
The stage is set for the final encounter and the Australians appear geared up for the challenge.
