Michael Jamieson secures Men’s 100m breaststroke gold – 2013 British International
Michael Jamieson of Edinburgh University secured the gold medal of the Men’s 100m breaststroke on opening day of the 2013 British International in Leeds, UK, on Friday, March 8.
Jamieson should no mercy to his opponents in the double lap breaststroke discipline and cruised his way towards the finishing end for a gold medal. With his notable pace, he managed to overcome his toughest competitor and tapped the wall for the title.
Jamieson remained only two arm strokes ahead of his following swimmer and occupied the title with an effort of 1 minute and 00.82 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Christopher Steeples of Co Manch Aquatics, who was 0.26 seconds behind and finished second in the race by producing a time of 1 minute and 01.08 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Robert Holderness of Millfield, who was 0.39 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end for a bronze medal with the timing of 1 minute and 01.47 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Adam Peaty of Co Derby, who was only an inch behind and settled on the wall for fourth position with the timing of 1 minute and 01.66 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the reason was obtained by Andrew Willis of Bracknell, who was 0.10 seconds apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 01.76 seconds.
Peaty was followed by Marco Koch of DSW Darmstad, who stayed 0.02 seconds slower and concluded his race in sixth place by posting a time of 1 minute and 01.78 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the event was obtained by Ross Murdoch of West Dunbart, who was 0.06 seconds apart and touched the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 01.84 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Craig Benson of Warrender Ba, who tried very hard but failed to overwhelm any of his opponents. Benson stayed 0.14 seconds slower from his former finisher and posted a time of 1 minute and 01.98 seconds for eighth place.
In addition, Jamieson received a huge round of applause from the crowd and received the gold medal after the event.
