Michael Katsidis claims Ricky Hatton has agreed to make a comeback against him – Boxing news
Michael Katsidis, who is a former two-time World Boxing Organisation interim lightweight titleholder, has made a staggering revelation in which he claimed Ricky Hatton, who is a former two-time International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organisation
light welterweight champion, has agreed to make a comeback against him.
The Great Australian pugilist, Katsidis, is set to meet Ricky Burns at the Wembley Arena, London in England. Katsidis has insisted he will beat Burns and then he will take on Hatton, who was known as the Great White Hope.
“I don't want to look past Ricky Burns, and no disrespect to the bloke, but I am going to win this title, I am going to beat him and then I want to bring out one of the best English fighters ever,” Katsidis told BoxNation.
“Ricky Burns is Scottish, for one, and I want to bring England one of their own and one of the biggest fighters they have ever had and that's Ricky Hatton,” he added.
Katsidis in the end disclosed he has having negotiations with Graham Earl and hopefully they will set up a clash soon.
“We can meet halfway on the weight. I was talking to Graham Earl, who is a good friend of Ricky's, the other night and he says this fight can happen. We've started talking already and this is a reality,” he said.
The 33-year-old Hatton, who was more commonly known as Hitman, held a record of winning 45 of his 47 professional fights, with 32 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. His first defeat came against the undefeated American legend, Floyd Mayweather,
and the second came against Manny Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion.
Hatton versus Pacquiao was one of the most eagerly awaited bouts in which Hatton suffered a brutal second round knockout against the Filipino star and since then he has not entered the ring again.
However, there are still many fans out there who want to see Hatton in action once again. Therefore, let’s see if Hatton really makes a comeback, as it will certainly bring a lot of life into the sport.
