Michael Katsidis insists Amir Khan will not fight him because he just fights for money – Boxing news
Michael Katsidis, who is a former two-time World Boxing Organisation interim lightweight titleholder, has insisted the currently unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, will never
fight him because Katsidis believes Khan only goes after money.
“Amir’s had two opportunities to fight me but for him it’s all about the money,” said Katsidis. “He wants to keep it all for himself and leave nothing for the opponent.”
The 31-year-old Katsidis, who is more commonly known as Great, is set to face Ricky Burns for the WBO interim lightweight crown at Wembley Arena in London and he will be back into world title reckoning, if he gets past Burns test.
The Australian pugilist, who has won 28 of his 32 professional fights, with 23 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is pretty sure he will beat Burns and he wants to set-up a mega showdown with Khan afterwards. However, he thinks Khan will not be
able to stand his power and therefore will never fight him.
“He’s shied away from me in the past and I believe he’s just waiting for me to get old. He might be waiting a while. I don’t think he’ll step up to the fight,” Katsidis said.
In the end, Katsidis commented on Khan’s fight with Marcos Maidana which was held back in December 2010. Khan, who is widely known as King Khan, dominated the fight from the start but he received some terrible beating in the 10th round.
Though Khan showed great chin during the bout, Katsidis still reckons he the Brit has a glass jaw which he can break easily.
“The moment I hit Khan I will knock him out. I saw him against Marcos Maidana from ringside and he was gone. In 12 rounds I will hit him on the chin and he will go down,” he said.
Khan, who is a winner of 26 of his 27 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is currently set to take on Lamont Peterson on December 10 but let’s see if Khan will consider fighting Katsidis or not.
