Michael Kiss on Bacio wins 2011 Audi Melges 20 National Championship at Coconut Grove Sailing Club
Standing leader, America’s Michael Kiss, finally made it to the highest podium spot at the conclusion of 2011 Audi Melges 20 National Championship after he presented a smashing show of his sailing genius throughout the regatta at Coconut Grove Sailing Club.
The American led the standings from the very beginning of the event and eventually took the title, scoring 14 points after eight races, including a discard. Michael Kiss on Bacio won his second consecutive title and he was helped by his crew, consisting
of tactician, Chris Rast and Jamie Kimball.
During the regatta, the back-to-back US National Champion sailed up to the mark and compiled an astounding score line, which included impressive four bullets. While speaking to local reporters at the end of the championship, Kiss said, “I really didn't think
we'd be able to do it. But, we did. It was really great and a lot of fun.”

As far as the forecast on the final day of championship was concerned, a nice and pleasant breeze fluctuated from 12 to18 knots under a shiny sun. The Melges 20 fleet enjoyed perfect weather for a strong sail at Miami, in Florida.
Marcus Eagan, who sailed on Cajun Underwriting, secured a second podium finish overall with 20 points, as he showed unbelievable form on his first outing. Third place finisher with 35 points was Travis Weisleder, who rode on Layline.com/Gill Race Team.
