Michael Klueh overpowers Men’s 400m freestyle heats – FINA Swimming World Cup, Beijing
Michael Klueh of USA overpowered the preliminary rounds of Men’s 400m freestyle on first day of the sixth stop of FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup in Beijing, China on Friday, November 2, 2012.
The American swimmer served notice of his talent in the mediocre distance freestyle event as he showed his urgency towards the finishing wall for first position.
With his epic start, Klueh enjoyed a comfortable lead over his following swimmer and surfaced on the wall as top position holder by submitting a time of 3 minutes and 47.11 seconds.
Klueh was followed by Matthew Stanley of New Zealand, who stayed 1.10 seconds apart and occupied second fastest spot of the event with an effort of 3 minutes and 48.21 seconds.
Stanley was traced by Yunqi Li of China, who suffered a loss of 0.25 seconds from his former finisher and secured third position of the event by posting a time of 3 minutes and 48.46 seconds.
Subsequently, Li was chased by Dominik Meichtry of Switzerland, who stayed full body length behind and emerged on the wall as fourth best finisher by producing a time of 3 minutes and 49.43 seconds.
Fifth finest spot of the race was obtained by MacKenzie Horton, who stayed almost 0.70 seconds behind and completed his race in a time of 3 minutes and 50.17 seconds.

Both swimmers demonstrated their relentless efforts in the 16-lap freestyle discipline but failed to overpower each other on the wall.
With his astonishing pace, Hurley matched Zhong’s pace in the last 50 metres of the event and they both ended in a joint finish for sixth position with a time of 3 minutes and 50.53 seconds.
They were chased by Mingjian Zheng, who was 0.17 seconds slower from the duo of sixth position holders and clocked an effort of 3 minutes and 50.70 seconds for eighth position.
