Michael Klueh wins Men’s 1500m freestyle gold – FINA Swimming World Cup, Beijing
Michael Klueh of USA won gold medal of the Men’s 1500m freestyle on day two of the sixth stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Beijing, China on Saturday, November 3.
The American swimmer showed no mercy to his opponents in the distant freestyle discipline and stepped on the medal rostrum for gold medal.
With his impeccable pace, he remained in a considerable lead over his opponents and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with a timing of 14 minutes and 39.12 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by MacKenzie Horton of Australia, who was 8.01 seconds slower and surfaced on the wall as second best finisher by clocking a time of 14 minutes and 47.13 seconds.
Horton was followed by Weijia Liu, who was also prominently slower from his former finisher and surfaced on the wall as third position holder by producing a time of 14 minutes and 52.17 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Shane Asbury of Australia, who stayed more than 25 metres apart and surfaced on the wall as fourth best finisher by clocking a time of 15 minutes and 08.06 seconds.
Subsequently, fifth position of the race was obtained by Guixu Zhong, who was 4.53 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end with the timing of 15 minutes and 12.59 seconds.
Zhong was trailed by Shaoqing Bian, who stayed three and a half body lengths behind and ended his swim in sixth place by posting a time of 15 minutes and 15.88 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was obtained by Ziao Qiu, who stayed almost six seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and concluded his race in a time of 15 minutes and 21.11 seconds.
Eighth best position of the sixty-lap discipline was secured by Chen Ren, who remained just 0.29 seconds apart and hit the finishing wall with a timing of 15 minutes and 21.40 seconds.
In addition, Klueh was overjoyed with his top finish in the 1500m discipline and articulated that he would continue his hard work in order to achieve the same at forthcoming swimming competitions.
