Michael Koncz does not believe Floyd Mayweather will take on Manny Pacquiao ever – Boxing news
Michael Koncz, who is the advisor of the eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion) Manny Pacquiao, believes a super-fight between his man and Floyd Mayweather, who is a five-division
world champion and the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, will never happen.
“I don't believe that the fight will ever be made. Floyd always seems to find new excuses when we come to terms on a prior excuse,” Koncz said.
The undefeated American legend, Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, including 26 of them coming by the way of a knockout, accused Pacquiao of using illegal substance prior to his fights. Therefore, he
wants Pacquiao to agree for Olympic-style drug testing which requires blood sampling until an hour before the bout.
However, Koncz thinks Mayweather is just avoiding his fighter because he knows he will be beaten by him in the ring. Koncz stated if Mayweather wants to fight Pacquiao, he knows how to contact the chief of Top Rank Promotions.
Koncz also admitted that the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight is one of the most eagerly awaited fights in the sport, as he knows people want to see who the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world is but on the same note he claimed Pacquiao has done enough for
the sport and he does not really need to fight Mayweather.
“If Floyd Mayweather wants to fight Manny, then his people, including Al Haymon, know how to reach out to me. They know how to reach out to [Top Rank Inc. CEO ] Bob Arum, and we can sit down and make the fight,” Koncz said to Ringtv.com.
“I know that the fans want that fight to be made. But Manny doesn't need the fight. Manny has done more for boxing than anyone has, I believe. Manny's legacy is cemented,” Koncz added.
Pacquiao is currently set to face the current World Boxing Association Super, World Boxing Organisation and The Ring Lightweight World Champion, Juan Manuel Marquez, in their much-anticipated trilogy fight on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las
Vegas, Nevada.
