Michael Koncz reveals Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent has not been negotiated – Boxing news
Manny Pacquiao’s advisor, Michael Koncz, has made it crystal clear that he and Bob Arum, who is Pacquiao’s promoter, have made no plans as of yet about who should be their man’s next opponent.
The Fighting Pride of Philippines, Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation World Welterweight Champion (Super Champion), not too long ago held a press-conference upon returning from United States to inform
that his camp is having negotiations for his super-fight with the undefeated American legend, Floyd Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion.
“Negotiations are ongoing for my fight with Mayweather, but nothing is final,” Pacquiao said, according to abs-cbnnews.com. “Mayweather may be thinking 'I can fight Pacquiao now because he had trouble against Marquez, and I was able to beat up Marquez'.”
However, now it seems like that the Pac-Man was misinformed as Koncz has confirmed no negotiations have taken place as of yet.
Koncz stated nobody has even given thought to Pacquiao’s fourth fight with the Mexican Dinamita, Marquez, as he remarked they want to let Pacquiao enjoy with his family till the Christmas holidays.
“As to whom our next opponent is or whether Marquez IV, we are going to take a few days and relax. Let Manny enjoy his family and then we will sit down and talk. There is no rush. We usually don’t make a decision as to our next fight, when we fight in November,
until after the Christmas holiday,” Koncz told MP8.ph.
It was being said a lot that Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, is setting up a fourth fight between his man and Juan Manuel Marquez instead setting up a dream-fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather but after what Koncz confirmed it looks like people might see
a fight for which they have been waiting for since long, Pacquiao versus Mayweather.
Mayweather, who holds a perfect record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, wants a fight on May 5, 2012 so let’s see if a super-fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather is finally made.
