Michael Leslie determined for new season run ahead – Snooker Update
Last snooker season did not bring any good news from the Scottish professional snooker players, Michael Leslie as he was unable to clinch any noticeable win in his season campaign. He participated only in the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) series
where he failed to show any progress and faced early exits in all PTC events.
However, the Scot bounced back in the 2012 European Under-21 Snooker Championship and claimed the title which booked him a place in the professional tour of the 2012-13 Snooker Season. The Scotsman was quite ecstatic with his selection for the pro tour and
participated in the qualifying session of the first major ranking event, 2012 Wuxi Classic.
He crashed out of the event qualifiers in the first round followed by another early exit from the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open qualifiers. The Scot did not lose his heart and kept his game alive and well to move forward in the season tournaments.
He faced the same music in the first event of UK Players Tour Championship (UKPTC) as he dropped out in the first round. He is now all set for another try to his luck in the second UKPTC.
While speaking to the local media about his plans, Leslie said, “I have already noticed the standard on the professional circuit being a
step up from what I have been used to but guys like Perry, Doherty and Higgins, with the amount of experience and quality
they have, are going to be an even bigger step-up from that.”
He added, “This is what I have been working towards for the last few years where I would get the chance to compete against some of the world’s best players which will help me become a better player.”
The Scot has already lost his chance to appear in the 2012 Shanghai Masters and he cannot afford another early exit. He believes he can perform well in the upcoming events to improve his rankings. It will be interesting to see what type of impact Leslie
will have during the new season as he battles it out with some of the top players in the sport.
