Michael Leslie looks forward to his PTC clash against Joe Perry – Snooker Update
Scotland’s Michael Leslie will be facing England’s Joe Perry in the opening round of the UKPTC Event 2. The Scot is looking forward for a tussling game against him, as he has never played Perry before. Leslie has not won a single match in the new season
and is aiming to add one in his account.
While speaking to the local media about his match, Leslie said, “I am not expected to win and hopefully that helps me relax and play some of my best snooker. I have watched him on television a few times and Joe is clearly a top player.”
He added, “You don’t get to the semi-finals of the World Championship if you are not. However, this is a great opportunity for me to learn some things from someone of his calibre but also try and play well and pull off a shock at the same time.”
Previous snooker season was not good for the Scottish potter, Michael Leslie as he could participate only in the Players Tour Championship (PTC) Series where he was unable to make any noticeable run. However, he grabbed his place in the professional circuit
after claiming the 2012 European Under-21 World Championship and is now on the professional circuit.
The Scotsman started his new snooker season campaign with a first round exit in the qualifying session of first major ranking event, the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament. He was up against the English cueman Paul Davison and tumbled down against him
by the score line of 5-2. He was quite disappointed with his start in the new snooker season but he kept going.
The Scot faced another major blow when he was pushed down in the first round of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker event qualifying session. He faced Wales’ Duane Jones in the first round but did not play well against him and lost by the score line
of 5-2.
Losing in the second consecutive major ranking event must have been very hard for the youngster but he moved on to the first UKPTC event which was no different than the previous one. Leslie’s run in the qualifying session of the 2012 Shanghai Masters snooker
tournament faced the same outcome as he crashed out in the first qualifier.
