Michael Lumb to play for Queensland in KFC Big Bash
Queensland has contracted England opening batsman Michael Lumb for the KFC Big Bash T20 tournament that begins from December 30. Lumb, who has also played in the Indian Premier League for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837
Royals apart and represented England in seven T20Is, will join the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 side and provide some momentum at the top of the innings.
Queensland’s record in the KFC Big Bash T20 tournament is uninspiring. In the five editions that have been played so far, Queensland is the only side to have not reached the final of the tournament even once.
However, the good news is that in the previous two editions of the tournament, they have come third.
Queensland were dealt a big blow when Andrew Flintoff retired from first class cricket earlier. Flintoff had been contracted with Queensland but his consistent run of injuries meant that he had no option
but to end his association with the game.
Queensland coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Trevor-Barsby-c2710 said: "When we learned that Andrew Flintoff was not going to be able to take up his contract with us, we looked at a few players that we felt would bring something special
to our group. Having caught a few of his performances for England and Rajasthan Royals, Michael was pretty well at the top of the list as far as I was concerned."
In the seven T20Is that Lumb has played, he has an average of less than 20 but it is his strike-rate that stands out. He has a strike rate of 140 runs every 100 balls in both, the internationals and the domestic
cricket and could be an asset for the side at the top of the innings.
An excited Lumb said, "I've come across lads like Ryan Harris and Andrew Symonds in the IPL and have had a good chat with Trevor Barsby, so the tournament can't come soon enough."
