Michael Maguire confirms that Ben Cross has injured his arm again - Rugby League
Michael Maguire, the head coach of Wigan Warriors, has confirmed today, September 29, that Ben Cross will be off-field for the remainder of the games in this season because he has broken his arm a second time.
Cross joined Wigans after his release from Leeds Rhinos but unfortunately could only play four games with the Warriors before he was added to the injury list. The player injured his arm in a clash against Salford in August. Cross, who was on a short-term
contract since July, was ousted from the Challenge Cup final showdown because of his unfortunate accident.
However, his recovery was fast and he was once again seen on-field against St. Helens. This did not turn out too well for the prop and the player complained of pain in the same arm.
With his injury now confirmed, Cross will have to miss out on another big game. The Super League Grand Final was expected to be the perfect exit for the prop, who is all set to leave the club by the end of this season.
Cross has inked a year-long deal with Widnes and his time at Wigans has come to a close without any real output from the player. The disappointing injury has left Cross with no real results for his short-term stint with the club.
Cross probably wanted to exit the club at a higher note and may be disappointed by missing the honour of walking out with his team-mates for the Challenge Cup and Grand final showdown in a Wigan uniform.
The early exit will now be the end of a very disappointing season for Cross. The loss of playing oppurtunities and the multiple injuries have also had an impact on the Warriors coach, Maguire, who told the media that "It is disappointing for Ben. He won't
figure again for us."
