Michael Owen not regretful of joining Manchester United
Manchester United striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 has no qualms of joining the Red Devils, stating that he would fight for his spot until the end.
Since his arrival at the club last season, Owen has just managed 39 appearances in all competitions, with majority of them coming as a substitute. Owen made his first appearance in nearly fourth months when he came on as a second half substitute for Dimitar Berbatov against Stoke City.
The player faces tough competition from the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736, whose physical presence is unparalleled in the Old Trafford outfit. With his contract cessation nearing, a huge question mark remains on whether he would earn an extension this summer or not.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson was not interested in answering this question in his latest press conference, but stated that Owen still had a huge part to play for the remainder of the season.
With the FA Cup third round tie against Owen’s former club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 just around the corner, he has no concerns whatsoever and is content with his position. The player was well aware that he would not be able to play every game owing to the competition at Manchester United and expected things to be different from other clubs that he had been to.
Owen was just content to be a part of one of the top clubs in the world, playing with some of the best players on the planet and working under an exceptional manager.
"I haven't been disappointed at all by my time here. I have loved every minute. Obviously you always want to play and do your bit. And I feel as though I have scored a few goals when I've played,” claimed the 31-year-old striker.
The player claimed that it is harder to find a first team spot rather than scoring goals at a club liked United. The player added that the side features some great players; therefore, he has to work hard to prove his mantle.
"It's a new challenge for me and, in many ways, it's one of the appeals of being here," stated the United striker.
Michael Owen’s fitness has also been a major cause for his exclusion from the club. Whenever the striker looks to build momentum, some injury hampers that process and that has been the story for the former Reds player. The player scored the equalizing goal against Aston Villa in the League Cup final, but had to be substituted owing to a hamstring concern, which ruled him out for the remainder of the season. Despite going through heavy rehabilitation program and training, the striker got himself injured yet again this season.
Owen, however, is fit again and aims to play his part in United’s title chase this season. With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Federico-Macheda-c13475 loaned out, Owen has a good chance to feature with any of the other strikers and with Champions league due to return next month, his contributions would be welcomed by one and all at the club.
