Michael Owen should transfer, will 'The Reds' come calling?
The New Mexican player of Manchester United, Javier Hernandez scored the winner against Spanish side Valencia, after coming on as a substitute. While on the other hand, Michael Owen warmed the bench.
In the previous fixture, the legendary English striker came on as a substitute to score a fabulous header to equalise for ‘The Red Devils’ against Bolton Wanderers. But still, United’s boss went for inexperienced youngsters Hernandez and Macheda ahead of
Michael Owen.
The former Liverpool striker started against Sunderland, but he didn’t perform well and was replaced by Dimitar Berbatov after halftime. Manchester United has a lot of young forwards, who are trying their level best, to establish themselves.
It is crystal clear that United’s boss rates his young strikers very highly, and sees Michael Owen as only a stopgap substitution. Moreover, Javier Hernandez has been very impressive in his few appearances, and surely he will be starting for Manchester United
in a few days.
Sir Alex has been famous for unearthing young talent, and in the near future, we can expect young strikers to feature for Manchester United.  Besides, at times, Ferguson might also go for the sole striker formation, with Wayne Rooney as the single striker,
which means even Dimitar might have to warm the bench.
The unexpected emergence of Javier Hernandez and Macheda, surely, ensures that Michael Owen will hardly get playing time.  Owen, now, should move on, and choose to move to a place where his talents will be utilized to good effect. Without a doubt Michael
Owen is one of the best attackers of this decade. Although he has been hampered by injuries, and lost some of his brilliance, he can still be an asset.
The new Aston Villa boss, Gerard Houllier, has shown his interest in signing Michael Owen. Even though Manchester United’s boss has made it clear that Michael Owen is part of his plans at Old Trafford, but it is probable that Sir Alex will let Owen leave
if he wants to move out.
Previously, when both Michael Owen and Gerard Houllier were at Liverpool, Owen excelled under him, and it would present a good opportunity for Owen to revitalise his career.
Furthermore, if Liverpool come calling, the former Liverpool striker might fancy a move back to Anfield. The former English striker was a brilliant player at Anfield, scoring more than one-hundred and fifty goals for Liverpool, but he then moved to Spanish
giants Madrid, which drew a lot of criticism from die hard Liverpool fans. Owen has not endured a happy time ever since he left the Reds. Michael Owen gave his all when he played for the Reds, and it seems like that he will love to return to Liverpool, who
have been looking for the striker.
Moreover, The Reds struggled in the last season because Fernando Torres was injured most of the season and they did not have any impact substitution in their squad. Undoubtedly, Fernando Torres is a wonderful forward, but of late, the Spaniard has succumbed
to a number of injuries. David N’Gog and Ryan Babel are the two possible replacements of Fernenado Tores but they have failed to perform consistently. It will take someone like Michael Owen to replace Fernando Torres.
Michael Owen will come at a bargain price, and the Reds are desperately in need of a quality attacker. Liverpool will still need to sign a top class forward even if they plan to sign their former striker Michael Owen, but with the present scenario, Michael
Owen appears to be a good option if the ownership crisis is not resolved in December. Liverpool’s new manager, Roy Hodgson should be bold and try to sign Liverpool’s legendary forward.
