http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 surprised by Suarez’s potential move to Arsenal – Football News
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 striker, Michael Owen, has admitted that he is surprised with reports stating that Luis Suarez wants to join Arsenal in the summer transfer window. The former striker stated that the Gunners are on the same level
as Liverpool and fails to understand the reason behind the pursuit.
Arsenal have had two official bids rejected for the player by Liverpool and it is reported that the London based club is willing to lodge a third bid to get the player. The Reds have made it clear that they are not willing to sell
their prized asset and want to keep the Uruguayan international.
Owen stated that Arsenal are a great club with some fabulous history but insisted that Liverpool are at the same level as them, if not bigger than them. The former Reds star stated that he would be very surprised to see the striker
move to London.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 is understandable but Arsenal do not fall into that category.
“Arsenal are a fabulous club and have got a great heritage but Liverpool are as big - if not bigger. I'd be very surprised if he were to move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429. Madrid or Barcelona would make more sense,” he was quoted as saying in an
interview.
Owen admitted that Suarez wants to play in the UEFA Champions League which is why he wants to leave the club. However, he claimed that Arsenal are surely not in a position to win the Champions League in the near future.
“From Suarez's point of view, you can understand him if he wants to reach the absolute pinnacle of the game - that's playing in the Champions League. Liverpool obviously are not in that at the moment. Truthfully, can you really
see Arsenal winning the Champions League next season or going into the later stages? Unless they buy a good few players then I can't,” he concluded.
Arsenal are yet to spend in this transfer window. They were after Gonzalo Higuain this summer but he chose to join Italian side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 last week.
