Michael Phelps: Hank Haney’s new project
Michael Phelps was a very successful swimmer and now he has retired. He had a good career but now he is aware that he is not quick enough and his time is over. He has stepped down to give new swimmers a chance. The question that rises is, what is he going
to do now, as he is retired?
To everyone’s surprise Phelps has joined a new line of sports. As he is a swimmer no more, he is trying a new sort of stroke. Now he is trying to be a professional golfer.
Phelps had an amazing career with 22 medals in the Olympics. One would think that it is more than enough for one life time but not for Phelps.
He wants more and aims to achieve something even better. He would still like to be under the spot light like he has been for the past few years.
Michael Phelps has signed up as the new student of Hank Haney. Haney used to be the coach and the caddie of the best golfer in the world, Tiger Woods. Towards the end there was some controversy between the two and they went on their separate ways.
Phelps is giving golf a try and the world will be watching him, as he will be featuring in "The Haney Project". This will be shown on the golf channel.
"I'm excited about this project with Golf Channel and I'm looking forward to working with Hank and see what we can do together on the golf course," Phelps said in an announcement Saturday.
Phelps will not be going to the Olympics 2016 as a golfer, as this does not seem like a second career for him.
“He wants to win his club championship,” Haney said in a telephone interview. “He wants to play golf so bad. He'll be all right. It will take him a little while, but he should improve really fast”.
He went on, “Michael has got such long arms. But it's funny, because whenever anyone makes a comment that a guy has got a lot of potential, they're always talking about one thing -- he hits it a long way. The translation is he hits it everywhere”.
