  1. He has won at least 12 gold medals in Sydney and Beijing combined. He is getting an adequate amount of attention for someone who won that many golds.

  2. I don't see how someone who's the best in the world in eight Olympic events could possibly be "overrated".  Is he getting "too much" publicity?  Maybe, but at least he's getting publicity for actually accomplishing something, unlike many of the people whose faces and escapades are plastered all over the "news", e.g. Paris and Britney.

  3. I believe he's amazing, he's best EVER but I agree that there are more than enough cameras on him.

he's wonderful but they're acting the way like he's a superhuman, and he's not!!!

maybe it's a kind of policy!

  4. YEP I DONT CARE ABOUT HIM DONT WISH TOO   ITS ONLY MEDALS  IT GOT BORING AFTER EVERY BODY SAYIN ITS Michael Phelps OLYMPICS AND CALLEN HIM A SUPERHUMAN..

  5. I think that everyone likes to rave about him because he is the first swimmer to ever have done something like that before. People always like to idolize people who are quite different and popular. Also a lot of people don't actually like him so more people talk about him in their discussions

  6. Hmmm overrated.... let's see....7 world records this Olympics, most golds in an Olympics, nearly did it at the Sydney Olympics.  No I think he deserves the accolades he is getting.  He is a phenom, the likes of which won't be seen for a very long time.

  7. Are you kidding? he won 8 gold medals, broke all kinds of records and had the best olympic performance ever in the history of the olympics he deserves to have cameras all around him, plus he is now going to be making all kinds of money! not over rated at all

    Go Phelps!!!

  8. Nope.  He broke all the records, best ever.  I'd say he deserves some recognition.

The amazing thing is that he did it using several different strokes, rather that one single stroke at several distances.  That makes it truly remarkable of you have a competitor's  perspective of swimming.

  9. Every Olympics, the announcers always have a favorite one here and there that they just won't get over.  I thought it was strange, that the only stuff I ever got to see was the swimming, gymnastics, and some running, with an occasional added event.  I love Phelps.  I thought he was outstanding, and just an all around great guy to watch great things happen for, but I totally get where you are coming from!

  10. Obviously from my name I am a fan, (And an obsessed one at that lol!) but I know many people who share your sentiments. Here's the thing though, the coverage is the media's fault and not Michael's. He didn't ask that they focus on him, all he wanted to do was focus on his events. I'll admit the first week of the Olympics he was mentioned all the time, but the second week it was Bolt. Overrated wouldn't be the word I would have used. Overpublicized? Perhaps.
