Michael Phelps and Muhammad Ali, best athlete?

Question

does anyone have stats on Ali's olympic performances? he probably didn't win as many gold medals as Phelps will but I have a few questions.

who is the better over all athlete and why?

would you agree these 2 are the best of all time based on ali in his prime probabaly, (on computers and in most boxing historians minds could have defeated anyone) and , Phelps is Phelps and on Tv now

phelps is a very fine athlete in his own right..but he could never compare to ali..
