Michael Phelps wins Men’s 100m IM title in Moscow: 2011 FINA World Cup
Fourteen-time Olympic champion, Michael Fred Phelps impressed Moscow’s arena due to his animated swim in the seven stop FINA World Cup, in Russia, on Tuesday, October 18. The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 100m Individual Medley (IM) and 400m freestyle
finals.
Phelps beat Australia’s Kenneth To and Russia’s Dmitry Zhilin by hitting the finishing wall with a breathtaking time of 52.19 seconds to win the 100m IM title. Meanwhile, To finished with silver title in a time of 52.82 seconds and Zhilin claimed bronze
medal in a time of 53.88 seconds, respectively.
Daiya Seto of Japan earned fourth place honours by posting a time of 54.78 seconds, while Andrey Grechin of Russia picked fifth spot in a time of 55.32 seconds. In addition, Yuma Kosaka of Japan earned sixth position by posting a time of 55.53 seconds and
Diogo Carvalho of Portugal settled for seventh place in a time of 55.64 seconds. Finally, Stanislav Lakhtyukhov of Russia finished eighth in a time of 55.73 seconds.
Additionally, Paul Biedermann of Germany took home the Men’s 400m freestyle title by posting a nerve wrecking time of 3 minutes and 40.40 seconds. Russia’s Nikita Lobintsev finished second in a time of 3 minutes and 43.02 seconds, while Denis Gar of Russia
earned bronze medal in 3 minutes and 44.83 seconds.
Mikhail Polishchuk of Russia grabbed fourth place in a time of 3 minutes and 46.06 seconds, whereas, Stefan Sorak of Serbia picked fifth spot in 3 minutes and 46.54 seconds. Moreover, Evgeny Kulikov of Russia earned sixth place honours by posting a respected
mark of 3 minutes and 46.63 seconds and Dmitry Bokankhel of Russia picked seventh spot in a time of 3 minutes and 50.11 seconds. The eighth position went to Victor Polyakov of Russia with a time of 3 minutes and 53.00 seconds.
The scintillating splash of Michael Phelps grabbed the attention of the arena, while the top three medallists of the respective races were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion. The third round of the World Series is set to take place
in Berlin, Germany, from October 22-23.
