FC Koln goalkeeper Michael Rensing expects his side to make a strong comeback in the next Bundesliga fixture after the humiliating 5-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund this past weekend. The shot stopper admits that the team had returned
back to form after a dismal start to the season but the defeat has surely dented the confidence levels of the players.
Dortmund hammered FC Koln 5-0 at the Signal Iduna Park with goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Kehl-c32732. Stale Solbakken’s side are now sitting in 12th place with 13 points from
the 10 games played.
The team had a poor start to the campaign but recovered well to move up the ladder and now another dismal result has put them in contention for a finish at the bottom.
Rensing insisted that the result is definitely a setback in the overall progress of the club. He claimed that the side has won three of the last four games and are improving with every game at the moment.
The former Bayern Munich player stated that the players have to show more determination and commitment in order to strive for better results as they tend to give up after conceding one or two goals in the match.
“We've won three of our last four games, so the overall tendency is upward. Every one of us in the team actually feels that we're heading in the right direction overall. But it just can't be the case that you give up after conceding
one or two quick goals, with the team failing to deliver any kind of response,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Rensing added that the team has to play well for the fans as they are disappointed with the result at Borussia Dortmund. He remained hopeful that the team will play well against Hoffenheim in the next DFB-Pokal fixture on Tuesday
and is confident of securing a victory.
“Unfortunately, our fans aren't going through this for the first time either. The next game's on Tuesday, and it's one we have to somehow try and win,” he concluded.
FC Koln will next face FC Augsburg in the next Bundesliga clash on Sunday.
