Michael Rogers in pursuit of Tour de France 2012 squad
Michael Rogers of Team Sky is having a pretty good season and the cyclist is most likely to make it through to the final team’s roster for the Tour de France 2012.
Rogers’ most of the last season was ruined by illness which restricted him from performing to the best of his abilities.
However, Team Sky cyclist has marked a tremendous come back in the 2012 season with several impressive performance during the first part of the year.
He bagged an overall victory at the Bayern-Rundfahrt along with a stage 2 and a stage 4 victory at the race.
Rogers occupied the third overall spot at the Criterium International, fourth overall at the Santos Tour Down Under and achieved the fifth overall position at the Tour de Romandie.
The Australian joined Team Sky in 2011 and is continuing his second consecutive season with the side.
He has represented Team Mapei-Quick Step (2001-02), Team Quick Step-Davitamon (2003-05) and stayed with Team T-Mobile throughout 2006-2010 seasons.
While commenting on his plans for the Tour de France he told Cyclingnews, "Nothing is confirmed yet".
"I think the team will make the decision after the Tour de Suisse”.
“They're weighing up who is going the best and in the best condition. I think that's a very clear policy that the team has and everyone is fine with that".
Michael has an immense experience of riding the Tour de France and holds as many as seven Tour appearances on his resume.
Team Sky has strong chances of dominating at the French Grand Tour with Bradley Wiggins enjoying the peak of his form.
Rogers is more than happy to ride under the watchful leadership of Wiggins at the Tour de France.
While commenting on Bradley, he briefed, "He's certainly not a pushy type compared to some leaders”.
“He commands respect from everyone and he gets that through his commitment and the amount of work he's done in the last few years”.
“He's put his results on the board and shown time after time during the year that he's serious and that he's there to win”.
Team Sky will also have the support of UCI World Road Champion and the winner of the Tour de France 2011 green jersey, Mark Cavendish during the coming edition of the French race.
