Michael Schumacher: He will fulfil his three-year contract with Mercedes - Formula 1 Update
Formula 1 Mercedes driver, Michael Schumacher has recently announced that he will be looking forward to fulfil the team’s expectations, even though has not claimed a podium finish yet in the 2011 season.
Schumacher is currently eleventh in the ‘drivers’ championship’, while his team-mate Nico Rosberg finished his supportive run in the Chinese Grand Prix. The 42-year-old admitted, “That's why I'm fighting with Mercedes, [Admittedly] 42 [years old] is not
the same as 25...I will fulfil my three year contract with Mercedes and afterwards work as a representative of the brand."
Petronas-sponsored team had a disappointing start to the 2011 season. Both drivers failed to finish their best run in both the Australia and Malaysia race. However, Rosberg had a very impressive performance ahead of strong runners in the Shanghai race.
Schumacher is still moving with his opposite run, compared to his previous seasons’ progress. Rosberg told the media, “Michael performs at a high level, he is strong. His current results do not reflect how good he is. To beat him I have to get everything
right - he's closer than last year."
The seven-time world champion had an excellent test session in Barcelona, where he put his team on the top spot. He started his 2011 season with high expectations, even other team members were also declaring that Schumacher has the best chance to win this
season’s title, as he is a strong driver of Formula 1.
Schumacher admitted that the MGP-W02 pace in the Chinese GP was much faster than expectations, but due to fuel consumption issues in his machine, he could not manage his best run.
On the other hand, Mercedes’ boss Ross Brawn is happy with his driver’s best run, as he set out his promising performance on the Chinese grid.
After the successful Chinese GP, Mercedes is confident for the up-coming races of this season. The team are expecting a good performance for a potential podium position in the next race, which is to be held in Turkey, on May 8, 2011.
