Michael Schumacher: Team Mercedes needs to work even harder – Formula 1 news
Team Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher scored the fastest time at the second day of the second pre-season test session in Jerez.
The German was unable to utilise his new Mercedes to give a good performance up until now but he was looking quite comfortable at the 2nd day of testing.
Michael scored the fastest lap at a 1:20.352 on super-soft tyres and ran for an impressive 112 laps.
The team is quite satisfied with the results and they believe that they have attained some very vital data for setting up their car. Michael is quite satisfied with the new Pirelli tyres as well and this time, it seems that he will not have any excuse if
he does not perform up to his fans’ expectations.
“It also gives us good data for the test days to come and for the developments we are working on. We are moving forward as we should during the testing period but at the same time, we are aware we have to keep pushing,” Michael added.
However, he recently stated that the team still needs to work even harder in order to ensure that they perform at their best when the 2011 Formula 1 season begins.
“It clearly was a productive day, and obviously I am happy about that. We were focusing on long runs and being able to produce such a lot of mileage is positive in terms of reliability,” Schumacher said.
The team is quite satisfied with its 2011 Formula 1 car and it seems that they are hoping for even better results in the near future.
Ross Brawn stated that this time, the team is going to perform alongside the top running teams and they are going to run for the championship. Michael is also quite confident and he believes that since the team has built the car according to his likings
this time unlike the 2010 Formula 1 season, he is going to be at his best once again.
But it is not going to be as easy as it sounds as teams like McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing are probably going to be at their best once again. Since the 2011 Formula 1 grid will have 5 champions including Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton,
Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher for the first time in the history, the competition is going to be very tough.
It is going to be a very dramatic and exciting Formula 1 season and it is going to be interesting to see how Team Mercedes perform after they receive their expected major upgrade at the final pre-season test session in Bahrain before the season opening race
at the same venue on March 13, 2011.
