Michael Schumacher: Vettel can break my records if he does not get carried away – Formula 1 news
Mercedes’ Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher has said that Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel is well on course of breaking the world record of winning five world championships in a row.
However, the experienced German added that Vettel must not get carried away with this as he is inexperienced and does not think that he is unbeatable because things can change pretty fast around him and all the glory can disappear suddenly.
Schumacher added that Vettel is extracting the maximum out of his car and himself at the moment so more dominance can be expected of him in the 2011 Formula 1 season and in many seasons to come.
The seven-time Formula 1 champion also stated that Vettel’s dominance in Formula 1 helps build up the sport in Germany, from where both of these drivers come.
Schumacher said, “Records are there to be broken by whoever, and Sebastian is on the way. He must never feel as if he is unstoppable, though, because you know how fragile things are, how much work, how much attention is needed to be in the position you are
in, to stay there, and how quickly it may disappear. He maybe doesn't have that experience yet, but I do.”
The German added, “At the moment, he is managing to extract the maximum, so there could still be a period of dominance.”
Vettel is still 24 years old and already he has made a huge impact on not only the Formula 1 sport but also on the record books. With more than a handful of records in his pocket, Vettel is still on course to breaking many more in the days to come.
Schumacher’s biggest record was to win five consecutive world championships with Ferrari from 2000 to 2004. Vettel has one in pocket, as he won the 2010 season, and is well on course to defend his title in the 2011 season to make it two in a row.
However, let’s see whether Vettel manages to beat Schumacher’s record.
